Day 14 - 110 miles

In my desire to be on the beach tomorrow, I decided to take a leisurely two day run back to Alabama, intending to stop at a very nice looking State Park in Florala. But the weather didn't cooperate. The storm was supposed to go through yesterday but it stalled, and I decided, that if it stalled again, I didn't want a 4-6 hour drive in bad weather. The good news is that if I'd left earlier, I would have been sitting in that park, near a lake, so low lands, when the severe weather passed over in the middle of the night and settled virtually over the lake.

The bad news was I thought I could skirt the worst of the storm by going south and then east instead of due east... and while I was right, I left too early and got slammed anyway. After 3 hours, sitting out some of the worst of it at a convenience store but still getting soaked by the merely torrential moments, I gave it up in Quincy, pulled off the road and took a room.

Perfect timing. By the time I got a warm shower the sun came out. LOL But I'm still glad I took a break.
