Oh Canada
Day 35. - 365 Miles
Well, I forgot to take off my sunglasses crossing the border and I must have looked suspicious, so they inspected everything... and I mean everything. Three times they asked me questions to determine if I had firearms with me... even claimed my record said I had a 'carry permit" which I don't.
So I lost three hours on the road. And it's cold and it's raining. Still, I went north to Riviere du Loop, which I was curious about because I read a lot of Turtledove and it's featured in his "Civil War" series (where the North & South are still divided (at lest through WWII which is as far as he's written.) But of course, it's a modern city now, and with the delay, I decided to see it from the highway. LOL. Still, without a GPS, it's the best way to catch the main roads south.
I got confused by the French signs in Quebec... not realizing I was actually north of Quebec City and thought I had gotten turned around. Damn!!! Who chose this route? LOL
And everyone is warning me to watch out for moose. They're apparently all but invisible until they actually appear in front of you. I only saw one.
I quit when the rain became so heavy I couldn't go on... and I lost two hours of driving due to the rain and overcast stealing my light... That's 5 hours lost today,,, 5 hours of being cold.
I met Roy, from B.C. riding his Harley and he hosted me to dinner. He's on his way home, via the St. Louis, where he'll revisit the HD dealer who replaced his blown engine for it's 5000 mile check-up... yeah, my Honda rocks! (taps self on top of the head...) "Knock on wood."
Total Miles: 9445
By the way... I can officially now claim to have ridden a motorcycle in 6 separate time zones. I already had the continental four in the USA, plus Hawaii, and now I can claim the Atlantic Time Zone. Wasn't worth it though. LOL
