Cedar Island North Carolina

Day 23 - 300 miles exactly!!

Woot!! Today we just drove and relaxed. Took a route as close to the shore as possible to get any offshore breeze there might be.

Myrtle Beach is like a memorial to golf courses, and if you ever wondered what you could do with an old plantation besides turning it into a historical site, well, in Myrtle Beach they turn them into golf courses and country clubs... or at least they like to use the word plantation on their clubs.

Myrtle Beach also caters to the beach crowd, and has a lot of water parks along the road too. But I was creeped out a bit because they seem to think the water HAS to be blue, and so they dye it. All except at Molten Mountain where they think pink makes it looks like lava. I wonder what your skin looks like after steeping in blue or pink water.

Cedar Island is mostly a wildlife preserve, but the city itself is on the far end. It too is a pleasant ride with mild twisties and offshore breezes abound. We camped on the very far end, just outside of the ferry complex. There's also a nice restaurant there. Did I mention they have mosquitos the size of birds?

Total miles: 6200
